Nation’s, Texas’, Houston’s Best Schools Reside in Katy ISD – Niche.com Rankings Show

KATY [October 2, 2025] – The school ranking experts have spoken for 2026, and according to Niche.com Katy ISD boasts some of the nation’s top-rated public schools. The District has long established itself as a leader in educational excellence, ranking as the No. 1 District in Houston and the No. 1 Large District in Texas.

“Katy ISD educators and staff are consistently providing innovative and unparalleled learning experiences across our campuses,” Katy ISD Superintendent Dr. Ken Gregorski said. “They are the best of the best, and that is reflected every day in our student performance, CTE certifications, college and military readiness, athletics, fine arts and more.”

Multiple campuses led the way in the Houston area, Texas and the United States according to the Niche rankings:

  • Seven Lakes High School is ranked No. 2 in the Houston area, No. 9 in Texas and in the Top 1 percent nationwide.
  • McMeans Junior High School is ranked No. 2 in the Houston area, No. 25 in Texas and in the Top 1 percent nationwide.
  • Griffin Elementary School is ranked No. 3 in the Houston area, No. 36 in Texas and in the Top 1 percent nationwide.

Elementary Schools

Katy ISD has six schools ranked inside the Top 10 (60 percent) and 13 schools ranked in the Top 25 in the Houston area:

  • No. 3 Griffin
  • No. 4 WoodCreek
  • No. 5 Kilpatrick
  • No. 7 Randolph
  • No. 8 Davidson
  • No. 9 Stanley
  • No. 11 Wilson
  • No. 13 Shafer
  • No. 16 Alexander

  • No. 18 Jenks
  • No. 22 Holland
  • No. 24 Hayes
